The fool is the first
card of the tarot and "the Fool's Journey" is a metaphor for the
journey through life. Each major arcana card in the Tarot stands for a
stage on that journey.

The Fool Card in the
Tarot deck has many meanings, depending on the Deck, the position of
the card in a spread, other aspecting cards and the question put
forward by the querent but in a nutshell ... The Fool stands at the end
of the cliff where the end and the beginning meet with his journey bag
over his shoulder. He is about to go on an adventure through the ups
and downs of the major arcana. Each card in the major arcana
represents a different archetype and situation. He can be naive, wise,
light-hearted, spontaneous, innocent, reckless, a risk taker but most
of all he is free.
