MABON / AUTUMN
EQUINOX
TRADITIONAL DATES : Northern Hem: Sep 21. Southern Hem:
March 21.
Astrological dates vary annually.
MABON: SOME KEY
POINTS:
-
Equal day and night.
-
The second harvest
after Lammas / Lugnhnasadh.
-
A time to focus on
balance including the balance between light and dark. We celebrate our
gifts from the earth as well as the fact that the soil is dying.
-
Mabon is
traditionally a time for giving thanks for the things we have, whether
it is abundant crops or other blessings. It is a time of plenty, of
gratitude and of sharing our abundance with those less fortunate.
-
This tradition of
thanksgiving around this harvesting time of the year was later adopted
and adapted by some countries such as the USA and Canada.
